This program illustrates the role forces play in our lives through the immersion of hands-on activities in the physical sciences and mathematics.

Students investigate the role forces play in our everyday lives through a series of activities that identify forces as push, pull or both.

On-Site at Quantum Victoria

Students utilise their observational skills to examine the impact of forces across physical, electrical, and chemical domains, through a series of engaging, hands-on activities.

Activities include:

  • investigating Newton's Laws of Motion

  • measuring and comparing distance travelled on different surfaces

  • creating and exploring electrical circuits

  • how chemical reactions create forces.

An extension module complementing the onsite program is available for you to download. This module consists of a student workbook and teacher resource book with solutions.

Asynchronous (Self Delivery)

Students are introduced to push and pull forces, including specific vocabulary, and how they act on objects in our world. They will categorise actions as push, pull, or both and then apply these to everyday activities and the impact of forces on objects. The module consists of a student workbook accompanied by a teacher resource book with solutions.

The workbook has eight activities:

  1. Vocabulary word search (40 mins)

  2. Understand motion – teacher led (1 hour)

  3. Categorising push and pull forces (1 hour)

  4. Describing motion activity (30 mins)

  5. Push and pull example diary (30 mins)

  6. Playdough making and force experiment (1.5 hours)

  7. Shape features and movement activity (1 hour)

  8. Estimation on shape movement activity (1 hour)
